Battle Of The Pimple Patches: Hero Cosmetics V.S. Cosrx

No matter what your skin type or age I think that one thing we all have in common is that we’ve experienced a blemish at some point in our life. Blemishes can be the most inconvenient thing ever, especially when they’re in the middle of your face. I recall the first time that I ever got a blemish because when I walking into class my teacher said “whoa, look at the size of that thing!”. I was mortified. It was on the very tip of my nose and I was so self conscious about. I wish back then they had such a thing as a pimple patch because not only do they camouflage the zit, but they also work to make it go away faster (for me at least). I think that it really depends on the type of blemishes that you get as well. I get a single blemish every now and then that comes to a pustular  so I feel like pimple patches are ideal for me. I am not sure how well they would work for cystic acne because these are designed to pull the gunk out of your zit and prevent bacteria from getting into the pore so it doesn’t further inflame the blemish.

I typically don’t like to compare products but I feel like with these two products (I know there are several other brands out there) I went into it with the mindset of comparing them. I enjoy both products, truly. But, there was a clear winner for me.

Mighty Patch by Hero Cosmetics (36 Patches $12.99) ” Mighty Patch Acne Patches are made with hydrocolloid which is made with fluid absorbing agents like pectin and sucks up pus while protecting blemishes for faster healing. We are a NYC-based brand with complete control over our product so it’s a brand you can trust.” -Amazon.com

Ingredients: Hydrocolloid

My Thoughts: I like that these patches are all a large size and the color of the patch is a nice match for my fair skin. When I first got the patches I was eager to get a blemish to try them out. When I got a blemish and used the patch overnight I woke up and was sort of shocked to see that the fluid inside of my blemish was now on the pimple patch. It almost felt like when I removed the patch it pulled everything out with it. The patches left no irritation or residue behind. I honestly forget I even have a patch on when I do. I have found that once the pimple is coming to a head if I put a warm/wet clothe on it or do a facial steam it helps then I will apply a spot treatment and then the patch before bed.

Acne Pimple Master Patch by Cosrx (24 patches $6.98) “Acne Pimple Master Patch heals acne, blemishes and prevents future breakouts quickly. Hydrocolloid patch prevent secondary infections and absorbs exudate to encourage wound repair process more faster. Hypo allergenic dressing that sensitive skin type also can use Various Sizes included.” -Amazon.com

Ingredients: Cellulose gum, Styrene Isoprene Styrene Block Copolymer, Polysobutylene, Petroleum Resin, Polyurethane Film, Liquid Paraffin, Tetrakis Methane

My Thoughts: I have repurchased these patches several times. I think that they are nice. I do find the size variations to be annoying because I think that the smaller ones aren’t very useful to me personally. I haven’t found with these patches that they suck out the fluid from my pimples as the Hero ones do. I do not experience any irritation with these patches but I do find they will leave behind a slight residue. They camouflage very nice for my skin tone, but again I am very fair.

The Verdict:  When it comes to overall satisfaction I have to give the win to the Hero Cosmetic’s Mighty Patch. I find that although they are higher priced they are just more effective. I like that they have more in them and are all a larger size. The smaller sizes that are included in the Cosrx set are virtually useless to me, sadly. Both patches are great but I will repurchase the Might Patches for sure.

Please be advised that the Mighty Patches by Hero Cosmetics were provided for review and the Master Patch by Cosrx were purchased by me with my own funds. All thoughts and opinions expressed are 100% honest regardless.
